Experiential Design

APS Deer Valley Campus

A workplace graphics program connecting Arizona’s energy history with its sustainable future.

The Deer Valley campus of Arizona Public Service is a renovation of a historic mid-century modern building designed by desert modernist architect Fred Guirey. The experiential graphics program reflects the building’s legacy while looking toward the future of energy in Arizona.

Graphics throughout the campus weave together archival APS advertisements, community imagery, and a narrative about the evolving energy ecosystem. A central graphic, Arizona’s Energy Ecosystem: The Virtual Power Plant, illustrates how modern energy systems connect homes, solar generation, and storage.

Retro-inspired patterns and the branding of Fred’s Café pay homage to the building’s mid-century origins.
